The most significant benefit of this project is safety. The new bridge will provide a safer width for vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic. The bridge will be widened to provide 12' lanes, 8' shoulders for emergencies and bicycles, and a 5' sidewalk for pedestrians.
The bridge is 87 years old. Leveraging the 80% funding program with the City's local share will provide the residents with a safe structure that meets current standards.
